To celebrate the first day of spring, I thought I'd share pics I took of some of the beautiful flowers in our neighborhood on a recent walk with Rita. And... we have a winner in the
What the Dog Ate's birthday giveaway!
But first... Spring has sprung:
 |
A California poppy |
 |
I think this is a Mexican primrose - but I'm terrible at plant names... (Update - my sis says it's a rock rose!) |
 |
Ranunculus (ranunculi?) |
Hang in there... there are pooch pics coming!
 |
A riot of color |
 |
Beautiful blooms |
 |
Tulips - one of my faves - and pansies |
 |
Crazy-bright iceplant |
 |
Daffodils - a harbinger of spring if ever there was one! |
We discovered a dirt road in our neighborhood that we'd never seen before. It was fun to walk down it and spend a few minutes pretending we were in the country.
 |
Ah, country life... |
 |
Rita stops to smell the daisies (or the pee-mail) |
Rita loves a good roll in damp grass on a hot walk!
.jpg) |
"Ahhhhhh, that's so refreshing, Momma!" |
 |
She loves to try to get all wet. |
Winner!
The winner of the giveaway, chosen by randomizer.org, is: Taryn of

A Quick Update
Just found out that my interview with Indie Author Land is up today. Check it out if you have a minute! You can link to it
here. Thanks, Indie Author Land!
Happy Slightly-less Wordy Wednesday!
Oh, hooray! So glad Taryn won! (I know -- my Cardi bias is showing.)
ReplyDeleteYes, it is showing! :)
DeleteWoohoo! I can't wait to get your book. I hope you autograph it, hint, hint :-)
ReplyDeleteYou bet!
DeleteWow you sure have Spring springing into life. Not yet here I am afraid.
ReplyDeleteWell done to Taryn, congratulations.
Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Best wishes Molly
Hope spring springs soon for you!
DeleteThis makes me wish I had done more work in the fall to get more spring blooms.
ReplyDeleteYeah... sadly, NONE of these are at my house!
DeleteSuch pretty pictures! I love flowers, but am highly allergic. So, photos are the next best thing! Looks like Rita is enjoying the spring weather - what a cutie! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm off to read your Indie Author Land interview.
Thanks for stopping by! Glad you can at least enjoy the pics sneeze-free!
DeleteBeautiful pics! We're so jealous over here!
ReplyDeleteI heard today that it is still snowing in a lot of Canada (have lots of in-laws and friends there). Hope spring shows up soon!
DeleteSo ready for warm weather; enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteWe are enjoying it while it lasts - next up is the coastal fog that we get for most of spring and early summer!
DeleteLucky...I love the flower photos. I wish we had some here too.
ReplyDeleteWish I could send some to everyone. They're so pretty right now!
DeleteWoof! Woof! Lovely Flowers. Golden Thanks for sharing. We are looking forward to see some Daffodils and soon green grass. Happy WW. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
ReplyDeleteDaffodils are so pretty! Hope you see them soon!
DeleteGreat photos! No poppies here, but the daffodils have very fat buds. Now if only Mother Nature would cooperate. They're forecasting sleet and snow tonight and tomorrow :-(
ReplyDeleteOh... sleet and snow is not what the daffodils are looking for!
DeleteI'm so jealous of all your flowers! I can't wait until ours start blooming!
ReplyDeleteHope that will be soon!
Deleteyou just HAD to make us jealous didn't you? We still have SNOW!
ReplyDeleteHeehee. Sorry. I do kinda like making y'all jealous. :)
DeleteLove the flowers, especially that crazy-bright iceplant as I've never seen that before! Thanks sooo much for having such a fun contest and a BIG congrats to Taryn!!! You'll love the book!! Rita's looking pretty happy today too! Have a beautiful today!!!
ReplyDeleteMax and Max's Ma
The crazy-bright ice plant is amazing at this time of year. There are big patches of it next to the freeways in a lot of spots, and it's SO pretty when you are driving along to see those huge swathes of bright magenta!
DeleteGlad you love the book. :)
Cosmo does the same rolling thing as Rita, but he doesn't just do it when it's hot, he does it every day on the way back from our runs in the morning - I just stop and wait for him to finish being silly - I'm not gonna mess up my fur - we might meet some girlies! :)
ReplyDeleteBig wags,
Your pal Snoopy :)
You're smart, Snoopy! But Rita already has a boyfriend (comment from him below...) so she doesn't have to worry about what she looks like. :)
DeleteBunny Rita,
ReplyDeleteI would love to roll in the grass with you!!!
Teeheeheehee! (I hope your momma doesn't read that!)
-MBBVP
Momma did read it! I'll be chaperoning any rolling!
DeleteHooray for spring! I love the ice plant flowers. And the poppies! And the Rita! Her petals are lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing actual flower pictures. We have snow drops peeking up in the snow. But the biggest sign of spring in upstate NY is the mud. :)
